Marti Jeffs

Marti practiced Iyengar Yoga for 10 years before taking classes in the Kripalu tradition in the late ’90s. In 2000, she completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts. She now blends the two traditions of yoga with attention to alignment and much compassion for each student’s fitness level and abilities. While a therapeutic massage therapist for many years, (1987 graduate of Health Enrichment, Lapeer, MI), Marti built on her wellness education: studied Yin and Insight Yoga with Sarah Powers; Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation at New World Ayurveda; Ayurvedic cooking with Johnny Brannigan (Co-author of Eat, Taste, Heal); Psychology of the Chakras with Anodea Judith in 2012; and in 2014-2016, Bhakti Yoga and Kirtan with Sean Johnson in New Orleans and Brenda McMorrow in London, Ontario.

Enrolled at New World Ayurveda in 2008-2012, Marti completed the Ayurveda Health Practitioner Program, which includes Panchakarma, Ayurvedic Nutrition & Cooking, Yoga and Ayurveda, Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) and Heart-based Meditation. Under the guidance of Dr. Paul Dugliss, Marti learned the ancient art of pulse taking, a diagnostic tool to understand the current condition of the body’s systems. She learned appropriate recommendations of herbs, purification practices, diet and lifestyle changes to bring balance and healing to the individual. Marti also completed the Ayurvedic Counseling Program at New World Ayurveda. Currently she is working with the deeper practices of Inner Growth/ Energetic Mastery at New World Ayurveda (2016-2017).

Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, massage, and music are known ancient and modern components to joyful, healthy living! Marti enjoys all of these and offers educational workshops on Heart-based Meditation, yogic philosophy, Ayurvedic nutrition, Healing with Ayurveda Lifestyle, and facilitates Yoga/Ayurveda/Meditation retreats at Ladaka and Watervale Resort near Frankfort, MI.
